Mental Wellness Workshops for Coaches and Athletic Staff

Helping staff support the person, not just the performer.

Coaches, trainers, administrators, and athletic staff are often the closest adults to students connected to sports. That influence matters.

GCU helps staff better understand the human side of student performance. A student may be underperforming because they are grieving, anxious, overwhelmed, financially stressed, struggling with identity, or afraid to say they are not okay.

This workshop helps coaches and staff create simple, consistent spaces for check-ins, support, and referral. It also reminds staff that their own mental wellness matters too. You cannot pour into students from an empty place.

Workshop Focus Areas

  • Seeing students beyond performance
  • Creating weekly check-in rhythms
  • Supporting students through grief, pressure, and transition
  • Understanding when to refer students to campus resources
  • Reducing stigma around asking for help
  • Building trust without becoming the therapist
  • Staff wellness and sustainable leadership

Practical Coaching Principle

One intentional hour a week can change the way students experience your program.
